If you were to place an advertisement for your home in the newspaper, you would pay for a single placement of that advert. With that, you would have the potential to reach anyone that reads that publication.
The MLS is nothing like that.
When you post a single advertisement on the MLS, it’s picked up by all the real estate agents, offices, and some online listing aggregators. With the growth of the Internet, you can cast a wide net with your listing. You can expect to see your home on national websites just as you would on the web pages of your county newspaper.
Wow. That’s a powerful tool (especially when you can pay a flat fee for your listing rather than an agent’s commission).
But, a listing is only the beginning of the home sales process.
